Institutionalizing the PM...

wonder if thr shud be a system of selecting our prime ministers n heads of states... i dont really like thee idea of the winning party nominating somebody from among themselves as the prime-ministerial candidate, etc.

y not be a lil more professional with regards to running the country?

we hav interviews n qualifications for all kinda jobs people apply for and work in... thr must be a minimum standard for somebody who tries to take the reigns of over a billion people in their hands. lets say, there is an academy, to which every political party nominates one or more candidate(s). thr shud be a option for independent candidates as well.

talking of this candidate, she/he should be well versed in diverse fields which he shall be addressing to during his service. Basic sciences, Social sciences, politics, economics, international affairs, internal issues, diplomacy, leadership qualities, etc. After admission into the academy, the candidates could be given proper training in the fields a PM has to deal with. create a personality that cud cater to the demanding challenges of the "profession". after the completion of the training, based on the assessment of the candidates performance, a public notification should be issued. after this, an election shud b held from amongst the top 10 or top 20 candidates... the performance report must be presented to the public wid absolute transparency. a public debate should be held in which all the suitors participate.

after that, it up to the public to decide on basis of merit, whom they want as their PM, and eventually vote for them.

what i still need to work out is who will conduct the induction procedure into the highly selective academy? who wil train the candidates and who will assess their performance.

for training purpose, experts from various fields could be hired, who will brief the selects wid imp. inputs from their respective domains. they can also design the admission test, and asses the performance if required.

i really believe we should professionalize the way we elect our leaders, esp. in this era of accuracy n skill. i look forward to a trained PM, who is best suited for his job.
