In-different Observation # 22

Scenario 1:
Customer: "I don't like what you've done! I don't want this, i want something better"
Me: "Ohh, alright. I'll try n come up with something better next time." I decide to improve.
Scenario 2:
Customer: "I don't like what you've done! I'll choose from the other options"
Me: We'll i'd better take a look at the other options too; i'm actually quite insecure now.

indifferent observation 21

"Aye, I am changing for the better each day, but everybody else doesn't seem to like it. They wonder how come and why am I being different from what I was!"

And simply because. .

Congratulations my boy, there, you've earned all the privileges of the world as you are born to be a man, not a woman!"

Architecture Vs. Civil Engineering

If you wonder what's the difference between Architecture and Civil Engineering and that why do we need Architecture when engineering is enough, think no further.

The answer is here and simple: Architecture is to Civil Engineering what Dance is to Aerobics. It's the technique perfected, the physics, the science and the functional aspects in place, WITH the art!

Also, you'd think aerobics were enough, till you actually saw dance.

In-different Observation #20

If all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, is it ok to assume that all play and no work makes jack a playboy? LOL.

In-different Observation # 19

No matter what the lofty goals we set for ourselves, we are as good as only the least important things we choose to do otherwise!

So in other words, to achieve our important goals, we have to make sure that the less-important things we do aren't completely frivolous or useless or even detrimental: we are as good as the lowest we can go.

In-different Observation #18

While recently solving a few maths puzzles,  I noticed that positive numbers are always greater than the negative in value! Nothing complicated about it, right?

So for all the times that we take to mathematics to define and solve the simple and not-so-simple problems in life, we ought to remember that anything positive is always greater than something negative. Even greater than nothing or null, which is the zero of course :)

So there it is: do positive in most cases. Better than being negative or being nothing! Well, at least even the number-line says so.

Categorization of People

why is that instead of first trying to understand people and then categorizing them, we sadly categorize people first, and then go about understanding why they are or aren't a certain way!

in fact, why put people into "category" at all? are we too primitive to not appreciate peoples' individuality? when are we going to get over shoving people into over-simplified herds?!

Big Vs. NO Data

so many platforms and softwares to help us with Big data... what about "No" Data??
Going still with guts and instincts? perhaps that's the best we could do for decision analyses.

...because everyone does so!

I hate to be on time. But have to, because everybody else does!
I hate to wake up early. But have to, because everybody else does!
I hate to not stay up till late. But have to, because i love to not do like everybody else.

Innovation vs. Improvement

For innovating a new product, better never ask the customer... but before improving an existing product, its always best to ask the customer!

Objectivism

a polite request to people to not search for all hidden meanings in what is said to them. It's better to just focus on what a person wants to convey. Have a doubt?? just ask!!

Countries with the best Internet!

Let's say further, best priced and most efficient for the fees they levy!

Analyzed from an NY Times article on markets being too concentrated, an unrelated but equally important insight came to the fore...

The above image from the NY Times article wants to reiterate that while US doesn't have the best internet speed among the countries studied, it also has high-priced internet! Thus, lagging far behind countries like South Korea, Netherlands, Denmark and several others. Home to some of the internet giants like Facebook and Google, the US is certainly not the winner in internet speed and price efficiency!

Here's my further analysis on which countries have the best Internet. The key obviously remains highest speed at lowest prices.

Have a look:

While the NYT list considers speed and price in isolation, I thought it would be useful to study both the factors acting in combination: Speed/price ratio can tell us which countries have fastest internet for the price paid. Netherlands is second place compared to South Korea for absolute speed, but when tallied for the price, which is close to 1/3 of what South Korea charges, the Netherlands clearly scores higher!

On the other hand, the United States, Switzerland, Greece and Ireland fall among the bottom 5 in terms of both speed and price. Perhaps they could do with expediting the Mbps rates or reducing the charges per for the data services.

It is interesting to see that countries with highest internet speeds have comparatively lower prices and vice versa... talk about economies of scale? Or are there other hindrances to efficient widespread internet speed and cost-reduction pertaining to technical and regulatory factors? That would be an interesting issue to probe next... meanwhile, net-users in the top 6 countries will be able to reflect on the problem best... after all the pages must load faster there! :)

Gone for a while too long...

If I were gone for a while longer...
And couldn't return any sooner...

Would that make you worried...
So you'd call on me to check
If nothing had gone wrong.
Or would you only question me when I'm back
That how wrong I was
To have been away for a bit too long.

For I worry when you are gone
And return only later than you promised
I wait for you to come back.
And not just haunt you for having gone so long.

In-different Observation #17

Some people just like to judge others.... prove them either right or wrong... does that make them feel better about themselves?? is it because they don't exactly care about how others feel. They could be sadists who wish to feel one-up by making others admit they are wrong.

That's simply not the attitude of a winner or a leader. Commonly known as poor "people's skills"... I hope to get rid of the slightest habits of the kind. And importantly so, treat squarely the people who choose to judge others way too much.

In-different Observation #16

Its not that we hate change. We just want the change that we like...!

Nost (New + pOST)

Better late than never, let's start the new year with a post!! No less than, we say, with a "new" word: Portmanteau.

Remember Smog, Hinglish, Brunch, Spork (spoon+fork) and more? Well, here's an almost full list.
